ATTLEBORO – Mary F. Fraenkel, 73, of Mendon Road passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Fraenkel for over 36 years until his death in 2009.
Born June 11, 1945 in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Catherine (Reidy) Schwab.
Mary was the loving mother to daughter Johannah Fraenkel of Mansfield and son Peter J. Fraenkel of Attleboro and his wife Sandra (Rodas) and grandmother “mimi” to Maryana Fraenkel of Attleboro. She was sister of Catherine McKenna, Joseph Schwab, John Schwab, Robert Schwab, Margaret Schwab, Elizabeth Cavanagh, Christine Schwab-Boudreau, Anthony Schwab and the late William Schwab and Regina McCourt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary retired a few years ago after owning the Animal Inn in North Attleboro since 1984. Mary found many things to do with her retirement. She loved volunteering at the St. Vincents DePaul Clothing Center and the food pantry.
Lastly, Mary loved spending time with her family and friends but her greatest love was being “mimi” to Maryana.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro followed by internment at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO BOX 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
