NORTH ATTLEBORO – James S. “Jim” Dion, 80, of John J. Swanezy Rd. passed away on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (St. Lawrence) Dion.
Born on October 20, 1937 in Pawtucket, RI he was the son of the late Wilfred and Elizabeth (Quinn) Dion.
James grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from the Pawtucket Vocational School 1957. At age 24 he moved to North Attleboro.
For 10 years he worked at VH Blackington where he worked on computer lasering of badges. He also worked as a printer at Miriam Hospital for 28 years.
James dedicated his life to keeping his children busy with sports, Boy Scouts, karate and church. He was an avid bowler for many years in leagues at North Bowl. Jim was a communicant of St. Mary’s and Sacred Heart Church and a member of the North Attleboro Nights of Columbus #330.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne (St. Lawrence) Dion: His two sons: Stephen J. Dion of Alexander, VA and Timothy J. Dion and his wife Dawn of Cumberland, RI. His sister: Irene Reid of Clinton, IA: Cherished grandchildren: Stephen Jacob Dion, Myshianda Cherie Dion, Jaiden Alexander Stefan Dion and Elizabeth Jean Dion. He also leaves to mourn many friends and a wonderful group of nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his 7 siblings: Elizabeth Royer, Theresa Stec, Barbara Zulker, Sonny Dion, Frank Dion, Raymond Dion and Edward Dion.
Services will be private at a later date.
