NORTH ATTLEBORO – Roger E. Bonin, 82, passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was the loving husband of Marilyn (Strang) Bonin for over 60 years. They celebrated their Diamond Anniversary in 2016.
Born on September 25, 1934 in Attleboro, MA he was son of the late Leodore and Eileen (Kennedy) Bonin.
He grew up in Attleboro and graduated from Attleboro High school in 1953. He resided in North Attleboro for nearly 50 years.
Roger was a machinist, had an exceptional work ethic and retired from Form Centerless Grinding in Medfield after many years of service.
He was a man of great personal faith and was former member of the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro and Attleboro over the years. He was a talented soloist and choir member at the North Attleboro Church. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout and was once appointed as “Mayor of Attleboro” for a day in honor of his Eagle Scout work.
Roger was skillful with his hands and was accomplished at intricate woodworking, producing many artful gifts of love for his loved ones. He also enjoyed gardening of all kinds and took great pride in his yard.
Above all, he was dedicated to his family. His influences and priorities are continued in the values exhibited by his children and grandchildren who strive to follow his lead. He is survived by three children: Deb Bonin and friend Richard Holden of Attleboro; Ginny Kelley and husband Martin of North Attleboro; Bob Bonin and wife Deb of North Attleboro; three cherished grandchildren: David Bonin, Benjamin Bonin and Jessica Kelley; three siblings: Richard Bonin of Attleboro, Francis Bonin of Florida and Sandra Small of Attleboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday April 22, 2017 from 2-4pm in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove St. North Attleboro immediately followed by a memorial service in the funeral home at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
