NORTH ATTLEBORO – Leon C. DeLaurier, 69, of Landry Avenue passed away Monday morning, March 27, 2017 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
He was the husband of Suzanne (Laramee) DeLaurier for 36 years before her death in 2007.
Born February 27, 1948 in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Leon J. and Lorraine (Clavette) DeLaurier.
Leon was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and was a graduate of North Attleboro High School.
He served the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was extremely proud of being a North Attleboro Firefighter for many years before retiring in 2002.
He also worked as a finish carpenter and loved and was actively involved in the North Attleboro Firefighter’s Kid’s Day event for many years.
Leon enjoyed hunting in Pennsylvania and golfing. He also loved his car, a Nissan 370z. Although Leon had a ‘feisty’ personality, he cherished spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by a daughter Lisa Beckett of North Attleboro; four siblings: James R. DeLaurier, David DeLaurier, Donna L. Kenneally and Joan Kipp all of North Attleboro; and five grandchildren: Isabella, Camille, Josephine, Joseph, Jr. and Alexis.
He was father of the late Melissa DeLaurier.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 30 from 4-8 p.m. in Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.
A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, March 31 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.
