Mildred "Millie" Fortier 03/18/2017

Mildred “Millie” Fortier, 89, a life-long resident of Plainville passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond “Ray” Fortier, to whom she was married for 60 years.

Born in Attleboro, MA on April 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Avis (Hunt) Henrich.  She was a 1944 graduate of Plainville High School.

Millie worked her entire life.  Early in her career, she worked for many years in the box office at the Plainville Drive-In Theater.   She later enjoyed a 25+ career as the shipping manager at Dale Medical Products in Plainville where she retired in 1995.

She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Fortier, Janice Grello, and Carol Garrity.   And, three grandchildren, Ben Barnett, Colin Garrity and Rhiannon Garrity.

Millie was a long-time member and officer of the Elks Emblem Club.  She enjoyed traveling with the club to various conventions throughout the country.  She was a member of the North Attleboro YMCA Live Y’ers and the Red Hat Society enjoying day trips and social activities.   She loved going to casinos, visiting her daughters in California, and flying with her husband Ray in their private plane.  For many summers, she and her family were members of Park Terrace Swim Club and vacationed in Chatham on Cape Cod.

A very special thank you and much love to Ben for his selfless devotion in caring for Nana.   And, thank you to the staff at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their outstanding care.

A private celebration of life and burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

I'm the ombudsman at Maples and always took special delight in speaking with Millie during my visits. My husband, like hers, is a private pilot and she loved hearing about our latest sky adventures! I will miss this lovely woman immensely.

So sad to hear Millie passed. You all have my deepest sympathy. I have many great memories far back as teenage years hanging out at Berry St with my best friend Carol. Millie was great to “chat” with and I’m grateful to have known your family most of my life. Keeping all of you in my heart and prayers.

You will be missed so much Nana, I am so grateful for all the times we have shared together. You were such a hard working strong women, who had a great sense of humor. It’s fun to think about all your life stories that you have shared with me throughout my life. I’ll never forget our vacations and holidays we have spent together as a family.

I love you so much and thank you. Thank you for being the foundation of incredible people in my life. Your spirit will forever live in my heart and if I ever win big on a scratch ticket, I know you were on my side.

Rest in Paradise.

Love always,

Your favorite grand-daughter, Rhiannon
