NO. ATTLEBORO-Romeo C. Ouellette, OD, 90, of No. Washington St. passed away peacefully with his children and family by his side on October 11, 2016 In the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island.
Born August 17, 1926 in Fall River, he was the son of the late Romeo A. and Blanche (Sirois) Ouellette.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Seabees of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, stationed in Guam and the Philippines.
Romeo grew up in Fall River and was a 1946 graduate of Durfee High School, Fall River. He then went on to the New England College of Optometry, Boston, MA and graduated with the class of 1952.
He moved to North Attleboro in 1949 and began his optometry practice in 1953 where he served his local community for over 60 years. Romeo loved serving his patients and never wanted to give up his career until his health prohibited him from doing so.
Romeo was an active member of the North Attleboro Lions Club for over 50 years. He had many interests, but most of all family was at the top of the list. Spending holidays together was very important to him, as was going on vacations as a family, even in his later years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading anything to do with history and mystery espionage. Over many years he enjoyed water skiing, tennis, scuba diving, bicycling, and traveling the world.
He lived a very full life and will be remembered by his family for his wisdom, strength, extensive knowledge, ability to fix anything and most of all the love of his family. May he rest in peace. Romeo you will be terribly missed by us all. We love you!
