Gary "Nicky" M. Blake 06/06/2016

ATTLEBORO – Gary Nicky M. Blake, “Nicky”, as his family and many friends called him, 64, of Attleboro, passed away on June 6, 2016 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born on May 7, 1952, the son of Joseph and the late Marjorie (Degryse) Blake.

Nicky graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in 1971 where he co-captained the football team and earned many local and state honors.  He went on to Curry College where he was named to the Division 3 All New England Team as an offensive guard.

As an adult he became an electrician and worked for his father Joseph for many years.  His passions were hunting and fishing.  He especially loved tuna fishing and was very proud to have landed a few Blue Fins that weighed over 700 pounds.

He loved his six nieces very much.  He also loved animals, especially his dogs Max and Pudgy.  Nicky will be remembered as a person who easily made friends.  He will be missed by everyone who knew him well.

Besides his father Joseph and his wife Susan of Seekonk, Nicky is survived by his sister Linda McWhinnie of Fayetteville, NC and his brother Patrick Blake of North Attleboro.

Nicky was privately buried on June 21, 2016, at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Attleboro.

If anyone would like to remember Nicky with a special gift, the family would encourage you to please make a donation to your favorite charity in his name.

Arrangements entrusted to Sperry and McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove St. North Attleboro.

Joe and Sue,

My deepest sympathies for your loss. Nicky was a character and I have never forgotten the first time I met him at Kenyon's. Heaven will need to be on their toes.

As co-captain of Feehan football team, Nicky toughened me up, along with Mr. O'Boy. it got me ready for the criminal justice profession. I have very good memories of Nicky and was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He and your family will be in my prayers.
