Theodore "Teddy" J. Gioshes 06/03/2016

ATTLEBORO - Theodore “Teddy” J. Gioshes, 89, of North Main St. passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro.

He was born on July 9, 1926 son of the late James and Bessie Nicolas.

Theodore was a 1944 graduate of Attleboro High School and went on to work as a driver for Howard Sweet during his residency, for more than 40 years, at the Attleboro YMCA.  He later worked in maintenance for Hallmark Sweet for 30 years.

Teddy loved to learn and read about history.  Even though he was a private person he enjoyed volunteering and was a valued volunteer for the Hebron Food Pantry and the YMCA’s Sneakers Daycare.  He was twice given a volunteer award by the YMCA board of directors and presented with a life membership in appreciation of his efforts.  In 2013, Theodore was named Volunteer of the Year by the Hebron Food Pantry for his steady work.  Teddy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Theodore is survived by his friends and the staff and membership of the Attleboro YMCA and the Attleboro community.  He was predeceased by his older brother James Gioshes who passed away when Teddy was 5 years old.

A private memorial service will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Attleboro “Best friends” Scholarship Campaign, 63 North Main St. Attleboro, MA 02703 or to the Hebron Food Pantry, 11 Sanford St. P.O. Box 92 Attleboro, MA 02703.

Teddy you will be so missed. You were always a perfect gentleman and so generous when you took myself and other Y staff out for lunch! Rest in peace my friend!

My early mornings at the Y weren't complete without Teddy stopping by asking how my family was doing or if I needed anything. Teddy will be missed by the staff and many members at the YMCA. He took a lot of pleasure out of helping around the Y and the food pantry.
