PLAINVILLE - Carolyn Flanagan, a longtime resident of Plainville passed away Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater surrounded by her devoted family. 

She was the wife of the late George H. Flanagan to whom she was married in Dighton in 1954 and who died on December 7, 2004. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2004.

Born in Taunton on Sept 29, 1928, the daughter of Francis and Caroline (Bedell) Clemmey, Mrs. Flanagan resided in Plainville since 1955, having previously resided in Taunton and Dighton.

After graduating from St. Mary High School in Taunton in 1946, she worked at Morton Hospital in the record room and then worked as an office clerk at Defiance Bleachery in Norton.  After her children were grown Carolyn worked at Augat Pylon in North Attleboro as secretary.

She leaves one sister, Dorothea (Clemmey) Jakubowski of Long Beach, California.  She was also sister of the late Margaret (Clemmey) Clifford, Helen (Clemmey) Whipp, William, Thomas, Richard, Paul, Francis, Maurice and Donald Clemmey.

She leaves two sons: Timothy Flanagan and wife Susan of Pawtucket and Sean Flanagan and wife Sue of Framingham; and three daughters: Noreen Kaczowka and husband William of Seekonk, Margaret Campbell and husband Steve of Plainville and Carleen Flanagan of Pawtucket, RI.  She was mother of the late Mark Flanagan and Peter Flanagan.

She leaves eight proud grandchildren: Kelly and Erin Flanagan, Kristen Hall, Cary and Ann Kaczowka, Bryan and Mary Campbell and Sean P. Flanagan, and three great grandchildren Madison, Sean and Kylie.  She was the grandmother of the late Patrick Flanagan.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 7 from 2-4 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martha Parish, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.  There will be no funeral procession from the funeral home on Monday.
