SEEKONK – Barbara A. Hagstrom, 71, of Seekonk passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI.
Born March 26, 1946 in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Marjorie (Becker) Hagstrom.
Barbara grew up in Norton and lived several years in Plainville before moving to Seekonk over 34 years ago.
She was a 1964 graduate of Norton High School and received a BA in education from Bridgewater State College. She later received her Masters from Rhode Island College.
Barbara was a schoolteacher at the Horace Mann Middle School in Franklin for over 30 years before retiring.
She loved flowers and gardening and like to read. She enjoyed travelling and went to many exotic destinations including Jamaica, Curacao, Alaska and Ireland and loved going out on Fridays for dinner and martinis.
She was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and loved her cats. She was also into technology and had iPads, several computers, and cameras.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Bette Urban of North Attleboro; two nieces and their husbands: Stephanie McGehearty and husband Mark of Smithfield, RI and Kerri Edwards and husband Robert of North Attleboro;
And four great nieces and nephews: Madeline and Abigail McGehearty and Ian and Zachary Edwards.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 11 from 5-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 12 at 11 o’clock. Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.
